If you want to play jazz drums you need to learn from some of the greatest jazz drummers such as Elvin Jones, Tony Williams, Max Roach to name a few. Vernel Fournier was a part of the Ahmed Jamal trio in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Their version of Poinciana became a huge hit and it is easy to see why.

Elvin Jones was a big inspiration to me when I got more seriously into jazz drumming. He still is, not least for what he contributed to Coltrane's classical quartet.
